Wouldn’t mind seeing the Yotes making the playoffs over the Wild.

Hey James,
The wife is pushing for us to get an outdoor rink for the kids next year. I was hoping you could give some advice.

1) what would be a descent size rink to get? I have a large yard but NHL size is out of the question

2) any tips on taking care of the ice besides keeping it shoveled?
3) will I need any special tools? sorry but a Zamboni is not in the budget.

Thanks James

And if their top 5 goalie was healthy all year.

My rink is about 20 x 40 ish......you really learn a lot when you do it, but for me, the main thing is you don't want to fill it too much when it's not very cold out. It's not minus ten C min. you've got to add in layers.

As for taking care of the ice, just shovel and flood. Once you've got a base, all you really need to do is basically just wet it enough to take the skate marks out. I sometimes get litttle pockets of bad ice, which i just chip away and fix with slush.

When it's bumpy, hit it with hot water.

The only tools I needed were a drill, a level, a stapler (for stapling the plastic to the wood) a shovel and a hose.

The game itself was pretty exciting as Calgary pulled their goalie for about 15 minute (Technically, it was 4, but it felt like 15) and there was even a penalty shot, which Hinostroza missed.

Those last few minutes when your team is desperately trying to hold onto a lead always seem to last forever.

The Coyotes have been pretty impressive as of late. They might just make the playoffs after all.

Doesn't Manteno have about 30 parks and no winter ice skating rink?

Talk to the mayor and he'll build one to keep his cronies busy this summer.

About 3 months ago I made a hundred dollar bet that the coyotes will make the playoffs within the next three seasons. Seems like that could pay dividends this year! Go yotes
